Before and After...... Desert Ridge

So..... Everyone loves a pretty picture of a beautiful interior right?!
But it is always fun to see what it looked like, you know, before J&J got a hold of it.
Well, here are some before and after photos of the Private Residence we designed in the Desert Ridge area.
Our clients provided us with the before photos that were from the Real Estate Listing.

This is the before photo of the Kitchen.
The island was really akward and the nook area didn't really make sense. It was lacking some personality.

We decided to add a big island that also doubled as an eat in area in the kitchen. We selected the light cabinetry for the island so it wouldn't feel to heavy. (since it is so big... it does seat six comfortably).
We also added a back splash, window treatments and some accent lighting. We matched the granite on the island with the existing granite in the rest of the kitchen and added a decorative corner atop the legs.

The Family Room before photos (Open to the Kitchen)

The layout was really strange in this room. The open area to the right for a television stand made the whole room feel shoved to the right. The fireplace was basically drywall with a firebox shoved in the wall. This room lent itself to a lot of dead space.

This is the solution we came up with to make the room feel connected and all the space utilized.

We decided to knock out the wall to the left of the fireplace and make it feel like a continuation of the built-in unit. The stone on the fireplace makes it look like a "real" fireplace and not just a box in the wall. The dark wood built in we designed really warms up the room and brings the tones over from the kitchen cabinets. This layout also makes t.v. viewing optimal for all the seats in the room.
This is another angle of the family room after.

These are the before photos of the Dining Room.

This room was well..... pretty boring! Beige, Beige and more Beige. So, J&J spruced it up a little and brought it to life!

The addition of the wainscoting to the walls really gave the room an architectural feature that brought some dimension into the space. The wallpaper above added just a little elegance and sparkle. We mimicked the silver sheen in the wallpaper with a metallic paint in the ceiling detail.
The niche through the archway got some marble deco tile to bring some more interest to that area.
Now this room is ready for some fun dinner parties!

The previous owners apparently used this living room as a Den area. Here is the before photo.
Needless to say.... This room needed some attention.

Again, the original fireplace was basically a firebox stuck in the wall. We wanted this to feel cozy and look like a real fireplace should. We built out the mantle and added marble tile around the firebox. The tall mantle brings your eye up and makes the ceiling feel taller. The addition of the sconces to either side of the fireplace don't only add addtional light to the room, but act as an architectual element with the moulding surrounding them. Our client refers to this as her "pretty room" and we think it is pretty too!

This is the before photo of the Master Bedroom.
The tall four poster bed makes the room feel very small.

This is a sneak peak of the new Master. We are still working on a few details.
We added grasscloth wallpaer to the headboard wall to give the room some texture. The light and bright bedding pops off of the dark headboard for some great contrast.

Let us know what you think... We are considering adding a before and after section to our website. Do you think this would be important for potential clients to see? We would love your feedback!
Until next time.....

Another Little Sneak Peak- Gilbert

Here is another sneak peak into our client's home in Gilbert.
(Sorry about the somewhat blurry picture, it was taken with a cell phone.)

The marble surround is a dreamy Carerra Oro (it has gray and brown veins running through it)
The hearth is a similar marble tile laid in our favorite herringbone pattern.
The marble is going to look so dynamite with the awesome floors we are putting in.
The gray will be balanced out with the furniture we are going with.
It's certainly going to make a statement!
More of this house to come soon!

Another Sneak Peak- Las Vegas

I'm so sorry that we haven't posted pictures yet from Las Vegas, this week has been a busy one!
We have lots of projects going on, so that is exciting!
Here is a sneak peak of our preliminary install that we did in Las Vegas.

He loves classic. She loves rustic, colorful, and whimsical.
It's so fun seeing both of their styles come together.
This is the start of the dining room.
The gorgeous rug foreshadows the color scheme of the house. It's warm, inviting, and doesn't take itself too seriously. The chairs are classic in design with their tufted backs and bronze nail heads.
The table is rustic, almost as if reclaimed boards were used to create the top and base.
The drapery is a classic linen horizontal stripe.
As you can see in the background, we used the same stripe in the kitchen and family room.
The matching drapery ties all of the open rooms together for a nice flow.
We also hung the drapery just below the crown moulding to make the spaces feel grander.
******
To finish the room, we will be ordering a new light fixture and bringing color up onto the table top with a gorgeous center piece and wallpapering the ceiling. It's going to look dynamite!

Stay tuned! A dramatic new facelift for the Kitchen is currently in the works!

Trad Home

Do you all know about this online magazine? Am I late to the game?
I am very excited about TRAD magazine.

It's a wonderful mix between Lonny Magazine and Traditional Home.
Basically traditional styling with a fresh twist..

Is it Wood? Oh it's tile!

Jo and I are in love with this tile. We've now used it in 3 clients homes, and the effect is stunning!
We love the grey, weathered style that looks like an aged Teak.
What do you think? You can have the look of wood, but none of the maintenance or scratching..
We like to pair this tile with a light (sealed of course ) grout so that they really pop!
More photos of this darling house to come soon! Stay Tuned!

Jen
